Sacred Assembly

Two into One
Thursday, September 30, 2010
Burnett’s Mound, 7:00 pm

Vision: To be one Body of Christ in Topeka, under one King, advancing one Kingdom
The purpose of our gathering is. . .
§ To break the spiritual stronghold of racial, cultural and traditional disunity that cripples and condemns the church and hinders Kingdom work in Topeka
§ To consecrate a fast and call a sacred assembly of the Topeka church according to Joel 2
§ To acknowledge our desperation and hopelessness under the circumstances we face and turn to God for help
§ To humble ourselves by publicly acknowledging our prejudices, pride, bitterness, hardened hearts, and complacency and that of our fathers
§ To repent individually and corporately for these and other associated sins
§ To promote appreciation, honor and prayer for our pastors-- the under-shepherds sacrificing for God’s people
§ To surrender and submit ourselves to God
§ To forgive one another
§ To ask forgiveness of each other and make restitution individually where needed
§ To stand in the gap praying for reconciliation and societal transformation
§ To use Ezekiel 37:15-28 as our guide in the process, bringing two sticks together to form one unified city church under one King.
The purpose of our gathering is NOT. . .
§ To address every dysfunction or disunity issue in the city church
§ To initiate a citywide fellowship, ministry or outreach project
§ Many of these things could, and probably should, occur as a natural result of a more unified church. However, our purpose this particular evening is more focused than this.

Based on Ezekiel 37: 15-28
“I will make them one nation in the land, . . .and one king shall be king over them all; they shall no longer be two nations, nor shall they ever be divided into two kingdoms again.
“My servant David shall be their prince forever. Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore.”  --Ezekiel 37:22, 25b-26 NKJV
